The University of Hawai'i-Hilo women defeated UC San Diego, 5-4, yesterday in the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament at the UHH Tennis Courts in Hilo.

With the victory, the 14th-ranked Vulcans (12-5) advanced to the Division II National Tournament May 10 to 13 at Kansas City, Mo. UC San Diego ended its season 14-8.

The Vulcans won four of five singles matches to go with one victory in three doubles matches.

HPU TO PLAY BYUH

Hawai'i Pacific beat Cal Poly Pomona, 5-0, yesterday at Central O'ahu Regional Park to advance to a second-round meeting with Brigham Young-Hawai'i.

The 26th-ranked Sea Warriors play No. 2 BYUH today at 10 a.m. in La'ie with the winner going to the NCAA Division II National Tournament May 10 to 13 at Kansas City, Mo.
