Why wait to inherit one? You can learn to make your own Hawaiian quilt at the Bishop Museum's four-session workshop taught by third-generation quilter Poakalani Serrao. The three-hour sessions will cover the history of Hawaiian quilting, how to design your own quilt, cutting, laying out and basting. Students of all levels are welcome, but class size is limited to 15. Classes will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays starting tomorrow; the fee is $125. Walk for arthritis? It's no joke: The Arthritis Foundation is holding three fundraising walks — tomorrow at Pearlridge Center, Sunday at Windward City Shopping Center and May 13 at Aloha Tower — to support education programs and research. Money raised through donations to walkers also will fund Camp Mana'olana (Camp Hope), a three-day summer camp for young people with arthritis. The walks are gentle, one-mile mall courses with live music, dancing, food, prizes and entertainment. There's no fee, but pre-register at www.arthritis.org (which lists fundraising ideas — if you raise $100, you'll get a T-shirt). On site, register at 7:30 a.m., walks begin at 8:30 a.m.; 596-2900.
