Saturday's "A Salute to Our Troops" festival begins with a parade at 9:30 a.m. from Fort DeRussy to Kalakaua Avenue and on to Kapi'olani Park. Among the participants: thousands of military personnel, bands and vehicles. An F-15 flyover is scheduled, too.

A formal program, with emcees Kimo Kahoano and Carole Kai, is at 11:45 a.m.

Entertainment begins at noon with the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, the Royal Hawaiian Band, Hana Hou (the Air Force Band of the Pacific) and "Hawai'i Stars" contestants.

The main acts follow from 1:30 p.m. on a specially constructed stage: The Makaha Sons, Kapena, Florida's hip-hop Seminole County and headliner John Legend at 3:30 p.m.

The festival also includes keiki activities, military exhibits and food booths from noon.
