An 82-year-old Big Island man died after being struck by a car early yesterday in 'Aina Haina, the fourth pedestrian fatality on O'ahu in the past three weeks.

The medical examiner's office identified the man as Alexander Budge.

Police vehicular homicide investigators said Budge was hit by a 1999 Toyota Corolla driven by a 72-year-old woman at 6:18 a.m. at Kalaniana'ole Highway and West Hind Drive. He died about three hours later at The Queen's Medical Center.

It was not immediately known if Budge was in a crosswalk, police said.

The death was O'ahu's 18th traffic fatality of the year, seven of them involving pedestrians.

On March 4, Michael P. Santos of 'Ewa Beach, a 19-year-old skateboarder, died after being struck by a car on Farrington Highway in Kapolei.

Two days before that, 76-year-old Louis Hermann died after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing Enterprise Avenue in Kalaeloa. On Feb. 25, 68-year-old Sabino Corpuz was killed on Fort Weaver Road.

In a separate incident, the medical examiner's office yesterday identified the woman killed Thursday on Kamehameha Highway in Kalihi as Tsuyuko Otaguro, 77, of Kane'ohe. She was a passenger in a Dodge Aries struck by a Dodge Stratus.
