Advertising Age magazine columnist Bob Garfield, whose nationally recognized essays "The Chaos Scenario" explore the future of the advertising industry, will speak to a luncheon meeting of The Hawai'i Advertising Federation today at the Hawai'i Prince Hotel Waikiki. Two of the most critical elements for any small business owner — access to cash and trustworthy technical assistance — will be the focus of a free workshop tomorrow, sponsored by the local Small Business Administration office. The discussion, "SBA EXPRESS TO SUCCESS," will provide information on its Community Express Loan that pairs free technical assistance with loans ranging from $5,000 to $250,000. The loans are specifically designed to increase lending to small businesses in low-to-moderate income areas, or those 51 percent or more owned by women, minorities and/or veterans. The workshop is scheduled 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Prince Kuhio Federal Building, room 5-204.
