Gov. Linda Lingle has issue a third emergency proclamation to continue state disaster programs and services to residents affected by rains and flooding.
The extension covers all four counties through next Sunday. Heavy rains are predicted through that date, and state officials fear evacuations might be necessary.
Lingle signed the original proclamation March 2, after heavy rains, beginning on Feb. 20, caused extensive flooding. It made personal and commercial loans available to people whose homes or businesses were damaged, activated the state's Major Disaster Fund and authorized the use of National Guard troops. It remains in effect.
She signed a second proclamation on Tuesday after the Kaloko dam on Kaua'i failed.
