Hole No. 7, 122 yards, 9-iron

I was not having a good day with only one par, bogeys and double bogeys up to this hole.

I took my graphite Taylor Made Rac 9-iron and hit my Titleist So Lo ball to the left front of the green where it took a happy bounce and rolled right into the hole.

I jumped up and down, danced wildly, and hollered loudly and cheerfully with great excitement for the first hole-in-one in my life.

I bought drinks for the group when the refreshment cart came by and we celebrated together. I played with Daryl Teraoka from Kohala and two tourists, one from Scottsdale, Ariz., and another from Southern California.

Several years ago I asked God if I could have a hole-in-one before I die, and so the prerequisite has been fulfilled.

I'm thinking of amending my request and asking to make at least three holes-in-one before then.

By the way, I'm a pastor and so I love the game — it's a "holey" game and I'm so happy to have a big golf day on the Big Island.
