TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Lady and the Tramp" (1955), 7 p.m., ABC. Long before "Titanic," the movies loved to link classy females with ragged-but-decent males. Here's a classic example, in the dog world. Lady is purebred and lives in a fine home. Tramp is a mongrel who lives on the streets. Their mismatched romance blossoms. The Disney animation is terrific. There are also some good songs, several of them sung by the late Peggy Lee — who also provides the voices of four cats.

"The Evidence," 9 p.m., ABC. This is an OK cop show, straining to differ from other OK cop shows. Orlando Jones and Rob Estes star, tossing in some fun banter. Martin Landau has a key role as the medical examiner who recites the evidence. Anita Briem, a successful actress in Iceland, plays an assistant.

OF NOTE

"Blackbeard," 5 and 8 p.m., Hallmark Channel. Early in the 1700s, Edward Teach — re-dubbing himself Blackbeard — was a fierce force, working from a 26-gun pirate ship. As England tried to maintain shipping, it sent Lt. Robert Maynard to confront him. This film has a few better-known people (Richard Chamberlain, Rachel Ward) in support, but the key roles go to Angus Macfadyen as Blackbeard and Mark Umbers as Maynard.

"The Last Samurai" (2003), 5 p.m., AMC. This sprawling epic has Tom Cruise as a burned-out Civil War veteran who is hired in 1876 to train soldiers in Japan in Western warfare. He views it all cynically, then begins to absorb the spirit of the vanishing samurai world.

"Whose Destination Wedding Is It Anyway?" 6 and 9 p.m., Style Network. One couple plans an Irish wedding; another — kind of a tough one to like — tries the island of Anguilla.

"CSI:NY," 7 p.m., CBS. A man wearing a Superman costume is found dead.

"Saturday Night Live," 10:30 p.m., NBC. Comedian Dane Cook hosts, with music by James Blunt.
