TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Queer Eye," 7 p.m., Bravo. Usually the "Queer Eye" guys are brightening a drab world. For the first three weeks of this season, however, they're in the splashy, flashy world of Las Vegas and suddenly, they're the voices of reason. Tonight's opener has them visiting Max Clever and his wife, Joni. He's a witty magician; she's a bold, brash painter. They are thoroughly likable people but they live in a tattered house, surrounded by 109 doves, five dogs and more. In one impressive day the "Queer Eye" guys make over Max, Joni and the house. They also find a beautiful place to show her art. Two careers get a boost. For one fun hour we seem to see good things happening to good people.

OF NOTE

"Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" season-opener, 6 p.m., Bravo. This mildly interesting hour starts with Griffin's life in limbo, as usual. She was dropped by the cable channel E, for reasons she explained in a stand-up special (which repeats tonight at 5 p.m.); she has patched up her marriage and starts a new project: As a celebrity fund-raiser, she's auctioning a sleepover at her house. That leads to a round of talk shows.

"House," 7 and 8 p.m., Fox. The first rerun offers the impressive season-opener, in which Dr. House hustles to save the life of someone scheduled to be executed. In the second, House is skeptical about a young patient who seems way too calm and brave.

"Last Comic Standing," 7 p.m., NBC. The network had planned to bring back "Fear Factor" tonight, but then pushed the whole thing back a week. Instead, it has an abridged "Last Comic" rerun at 7, viewing auditions; at 8, the semi-finals begin. Judges start choosing the 10 comics who will live together on the Queen Mary ship.
