TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE:
"Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" (2001), 7 p.m., Fox. Back before Angelina Jolie became a media event, she was merely a talented actress with great looks and an Academy Award. She trained diligently to transform herself into Lara Croft — the action heroine of video-game fame. The result was this popular action thriller. Jon Voight plays Jolie's father, which he is in real life.
OF NOTE:
"The Road to El Dorado" (2000), 4 p.m., Cartoon Network. Two con men in the 16th century come across a map to the legendary El Dorado. This cartoon movie sputtered at the box office despite a big budget and songs from Elton John and Tim Rice.
"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. Melinda is having trouble because a spirit can only reach her through electronic devices. The process is painful but she can't shake the woman.
"The Silence of the Lambs" (1991), 7:30 p.m., Bravo. An excellent thriller that spawned some of the worst waste-of-good-talent sequels in film history, "Silence" won best-actor honors for Anthony Hopkins, best-actress honors for Jodie Foster, best director for Jonathan Demme and best picture in 1992. Watch it with some fava beans and a nice chianti.
"Close to Home," 8 p.m., CBS. Two men, both successful and both black, have separately been kidnapped. Annabeth suspects it's a hate crime. She's desperate to get someone to talk before the second man is killed.
"Hope & Faith," 8 p.m., ABC. This rerun begins after Faith turned down proposals from Larry and Gooch then changed her mind about the latter. They have eloped, a notion that her sister hates.
"Numb3rs," 9 p.m., CBS. A woman studying American Indian artifacts has been killed. Because she was on federal ground, the FBI is called in.
