Free concert series begins tonight

Aloha Airlines turns 60 this year and is celebrating with a string of events. It kicks off the city's Aloha Wednesday Concert Series at 5:30 tonight at the Mission Memorial Auditorium on the civic center grounds (King Street, across from Mission Houses Museum). In the lineup: Maunalua, Nina Keali'iwahamana and Mahi Beamer. Free — first come, first served. 523-4674.
'TRADITIONS OF THE PACIFIC'
PANELISTS TO FOCUS ON AHUPUA'A
In olden days, konohiki managed the ahupua'a, sections of land that ran from the mountains to the sea. "Traditions of the Pacific," at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Bishop Museum, will highlight ahupua'a ($5, free for museum members). Panel speakers include Joe Kennedy of Archaeological Consultants of the Pacific, Eric Enos of Ka'ala Learning Center and the Bishop Museum's Tom Cummings. On Aug. 5 will be a follow-up field trip from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to Ka'ala Farm and Cultural Learning Center in Wai'anae ($15, $10 for members). 848-4157.
