ILH's Kamehameha awarded No. 1 seed for DI tournament

Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Kamehameha (13-1) received the No. 1 seed yesterday for this week's Data House Softball Division I State Championships.
The Warriors have a first-round bye and will begin play in Thursday's quarterfinals, as will No. 2 Kailua (O'ahu Interscholastic Association), No. 3 Baldwin (Maui Interscholastic League) and No. 4 Hilo (Big Island Interscholastic Federation).
The other eight teams begin play Wednesday with four first-round games: Moanalua vs. Waiakea at 2 p.m., Campbell vs. Pearl City at 4 p.m., Kapolei vs. Leilehua at 6 p.m. and defending champion Mililani vs. St. Francis at 8.
All games will be at the University of Hawai'i's Rainbow Wahine Stadium.
Admission (good for all day) is $7 for adults and $5 for students (K-12) and senior citizens (62 and over). Parking at UH's lower campus structure is $3.
Meanwhile, Pac-Five of the ILH received the No. 1 seed for the Division II tournament. The Wolfpack have a first-round bye and will begin play in Thursday's quarterfinals, as will No. 2 Kalaheo, No. 3 Kaua'i and No. 4 Kamehameha-Maui.
The DII tournament, now in its third year, has expanded from four teams to 12.
Wednesday's first-round games and Thursday's quarterfinals will be played at Central O'ahu Regional Park, where admission and parking are free. Friday's semifinals and Saturday's third-place and championship games will be at Rainbow Wahine Stadium.
