The Honolulu Club hosts the 2nd annual SpinFest, 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday. Participants in the 12-hour indoor cycling marathon won't just be spinning their wheels — all donations (suggested $20 per hour) go to the Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii.

Endurance sport trainer Raul Boca and the club's spinning staff will be on hand to support the go-nowhere riders. A post-event reception follows with food, wine and entertainment. To reserve a space, call 543-3910.

OUT OF THE SHADOWS

On the heels of the film "Memoirs of a Geisha," the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i will host the panel discussion "Shadows of a Geisha," 6 tonight at the center.

Former KGMB news anchor Jade Moon, consultant Barbara Tanabe, actor-director Kati Kuroda and former Miss Hawai'i USA Alicia Michioka-Jones will discuss how racial and gender stereotypes, including that of the geisha, have affected their careers.
