Visiting artist Nathaniel Mayfield will present a lecture and demonstration of historic trumpets Tuesday, which will chronicle the evolution of the instrument through modern times.

This event aims to provide young aspiring brass players and brass fans of all ages with a new understanding of the modern trumpet through its predecessors.

Mayfield has studied at the Juilliard School, Interlochen, Tanglewood, and in Germany as a Fulbright scholar.

He has performed and taught internationally as well as across the United States and is a winner of many international competitions including the 1997 International Trumpet Guild's Solo Competition. He lives in Austin, Texas.

This event is presented as part of Chamber Music Hawaii's education program, which is supported in part by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and National Endowment for the Arts.
