UH water polo loses twice, finishes fourth

The University of Hawai'i water polo team lost two matches yesterday and finished fourth in the UCSB Gaucho Invitational at Santa Barbara, Calif.
The fifth-ranked Rainbow Wahine lost to No. 1 Southern California, 13-5, in the semifinals, and to No. 2 UCLA, 8-6, in the third-place match.
In the loss to USC, Hawai'i got goals from Kristy Bagnall, Brittany Dames, Amy Logan, Kelly Mason and Iefke Van Belkum. Mason had two goals to lead UH in the UCLA match.
SAILING
RAINBOWS FINISH SIXTH IN SOUTH CAROLINA MEET
The University of Hawai'i coed sailing team finished sixth at the Bob Bavier Team Race yesterday at Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
Hawai'i was 1-6 on the first day and 4-3 yesterday to finish 5-9.
Saint Mary's (Md.) won (14-3), followed by Georgetown (12-5), College of Charleston (11-6), Boston College (8-9) and Ecker (6-8). Eight teams participated in the meet.
The Rainbows sail in the Stanford Team Race, March 4 and 5 at San Francisco.
BASEBALL
HAWAI'I PACIFIC RALLIES PAST PACIFIC (ORE.), 10-6
Hawai'i Pacific scored four runs in the seventh inning, including two on a double by Brandon Sato, to defeat Pacific (Ore.), 10-6, yesterday at Hans L'Orange Park.
HPU is 9-9, Pacific 2-3.
Pacific had taken a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh before the Sea Warriors' rally.
Sato, Chase Nakamura and Ryson Mauricio each had two hits for HPU. Nakamura hit a solo homer in the sixth. The Sea Warriors pounded 13 hits.
HPU and Pacific split a doubleheader on Saturday.
Brandon Muser pitched a three-hit shutout to lead HPU to a 4-0 victory in the second game. Muser struck out 10 and walked two.
In the opener, the Boxers got consecutive homers from Robert Lloyd and Matt McCord in the third inning in an 8-5 win.
The Sea Warriors host Washington at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hans L'Orange.
GOLF
KIM, FUJIKAWA TEAM TO WIN AT MAKALENA
Teenagers Chan Kim and Tadd Fujikawa shot a second-round 5-under-par 66 to win the HPLGA Four Ball Championship at the Ted Makalena Golf Course.
Kim and Fujikawa finished at 128, three strokes ahead of Roy Nishimoto and Mike Kawate (69).
Robert and Thomas Nakagawa won A Flight (66—135) and Jim Hrysyzev and Wes Anderson won B Flight (73—140).
