Pedestrian among 3 traffic deaths

A pedestrian crossing Fort Weaver Road, just south of Renton Road, was killed early yesterday morning when he was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, Honolulu police said.
It was one of three traffic deaths reported in two days in the Islands — two on O'ahu and one on Maui.
In the pedestrian death, the vehicle was driven by a 32-year- old Waipahu man, authorities said. Police said they believe the victim was near, but not in, the crosswalk and was walking against the light. They had not determined which direction he was heading as he crossed Fort Weaver Road.
The victim, who suffered multiple head and body injuries, died at the scene of the accident. Police were not able to identify him, but said they believed he was about 60 years old.
The driver of the vehicle was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Speed appeared to be a factor, but not drugs or alcohol, police said.
Also yesterday, Cheyne Gilman-D'Adamo, 22, of Kailua, was killed shortly after midnight on Oneawa Street when his 1992 Honda swerved to miss a vehicle pulling out from a side street and slammed into a stone wall between Ulupaina and Hualani streets in Kailua.
Well-known community volunteer Robert F. "Bob" Love, 85, of Kihei, Maui, died on Friday when the 2004 Ford Taurus he was driving pulled onto Kuihelani Highway and collided with a 1991 Ford pickup headed toward Lahaina.
