KAUA'I TRAFFIC FATAL WAS LAWA'I MAN
LIHU'E, Kaua'i—The man who died in a Moloa'a head-on crash Feb. 17 has been identified as George K. Ewaliko Jr., 48, originally from the Big Island and recently from Lawa'i.
Police said Ewaliko's northbound truck crossed the centerline near the Moloa'a Bridge about 4 p.m. and hit another truck, whose driver suffered minor injuries.
FATALITY IN CRASH HAD HEART ATTACK
HILO, Hawai'i — A 77-year-old Ka'u man who died Jan. 16 after a car he was riding in hit a cement truck and a tree died of a heart attack, Big Island police said.
Joseph A. Jensen was a passenger in a 2001 Nissan four-door sedan that collided with the truck at the intersection of Hawai'i Belt Road and Kona Kai Boulevard in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates area.
Police said the truck was making a left turn from Hawai'i Belt Road shortly before 9 a.m. when the Nissan attempted to pass the cement truck in a no- passing zone and sideswiped the truck.
FAIR PROMOTES DENTAL HEALTH
SmileFest 2006, an educational event and fair aimed at promoting children's dental health, will be today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the front lawn of Kaka'ako Waterfront Park.
