Clay, Huang honored by QB Club

Decathlete Bryan Clay and diver QiongJie Huang were named the outstanding male and female sportspersons of 2005 by the Honolulu Quarterback Club at its annual banquet of champions last night at the Pacific Beach Hotel.
Clay, who won the decathlon at the world championships, and Huang, a University of Hawai'i All-American and NCAA champion, were also honored as the adult male and female athletes of the year.

Pitcher Jared Pate of Punahou (prep male athlete);
Senior Olympian Brenda Andrieu (senior female athlete);
90-year-old Honolulu Marathon finisher Bob Terukina (senior male athlete);
West O'ahu Little League coach Layton Aliviado (Scotty Schumann Award);
Hawai'i High School Athletic Association executive director Keith Amemiya (Neil Shaw Blaisdell Award);
Volunteer James Paet (Joe Reynolds Award);
Iolani boys basketball coach Mark Mugiishi (George Archer Coach of the Year Award).
