Skye Shimabukuro, the lone freshman on the Kaua'i High girls soccer team, scored two goals as the Red Raiders defeated Moanalua, 2-1, last night in the opening round of the Meadow Gold Dairies/HHSAA Girls Soccer State Championships.

The victory advanced the Kaua'i Interscholastic Federation champions into a quarterfinal match against top-seeded Kamehameha today at 3 p.m. at the Kana'iaupuni Athletic Stadium on the Kamehameha-Maui campus.

Shimabukuro scored her first goal of the night 2:03 into the second half to tie the score at 1. She put the Red Raiders ahead to stay with a goal at the 56:15 mark.

Mari Nagamine scored during injury time of the first half as Moanalua took a 1-0 lead.

Baldwin 1, Kalani 0: The Bears outscored the Falcons 3-1 in the penalty-kick phase after neither team scored in regulation and two overtime periods.

Keisha Shishido, Tylor Kim and Jasmine O'Brien converted penalty kicks for Baldwin. Kyla Tamayori converted for Kalani.

Baldwin will meet fourth-seeded Kona-waena tonight at 5.

Pearl City 2, Kamehameha-Hawai'i 0: Tricia Miura and Meghan Fuller scored for the Chargers.

Pearl City took seven shots in the first half, but could not break through. Miura's goal at the 47:10 finally ended the scoreless duel.

Fuller capped the scoring at the 75:20 mark.

Pearl City will play third-seeded King Kekaulike in a quarterfinal tonight at 7.

Kaiser 4, Hilo 3: The Cougars won the penalty-kick phase, 3-2, after the game was tied at 3 through regulation and two overtime periods.

Renee Shitanishi, Eryn Akazawa and Alexis Okihara converted penalty kicks for Kaiser, while Rachel Okura and Jennifer Iyo converted for Hilo.

Carianne Makino, Rachel Tomita and Amanda Suiso scored goals for the Cougars.

Katrina Chong scored twice for the Vikings, including one off a penalty kick at the 80-minute mark that sent the game into overtime. Hilo's other score came on an own goal.

Kaiser advances to a quarterfinal match against second-seeded Mililani today at 1 p.m.
