Professional Mariner magazine has named Pasha Hawai'i Transport Lines' ship, the MV Jean Anne, Ship of the Year for 2005. In its annual American Ship Review issue, the magazine praised the 579-foot roll-on/roll-off cargo carrier for bringing new and competitive life to Hawai'i-West Coast trade lanes. The ship is recognized for its ability to carry cars, trucks and buses, and cargo — including household goods and construction equipment — in roll-on/roll-off mode of handling. The Jean Anne can carry more than 3,000 vehicles on 10 cargo decks, at speeds of 20 knots (23 mph). She calls every two weeks in Hilo, Kahului and Honolulu, with an additional stop in Nawiliwili as needed.
