ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
It's their own kind of music
Advertiser Staff
Hooray! No covers of Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl!" Love the song. Hate hearing mediocre covers of it every time I walk into a lounge with an Island contemporary band. Paula Fuga and The Girlas just do their own music. Mellow, personal and relatable singer-songwriter gems that subtly lull you into listening closely. In other words: No one's background music. Catch both playing the intimate confines of thirtyninehotel at 9 tonight. $5 gets you in. You'll leave happy.

FINAL WORD
"Not at all. ... I can make a bowl of cereal. To me, if you mix Grape-Nuts and Cookie Crisp, it's amazing what happens in your mouth."
