Tambini leads UH by Matadors, 71-62

Pam Tambini led four Hawai'i players in double figures with 19 points as the Rainbow Wahine rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to top Cal State Northridge, 71-62, last night in a non-league game at Northridge, Calif.
Janevia Taylor added 16 points for Hawai'i, hitting 4 of 8 3-pointers. Tanya Smith contributed 15 points and Saundra Cariaga 10.
Hawai'i (4-2) shot just 21.6 percent (8 for 37) in the first half, falling behind 39-26 at intermission.
The Rainbow Wahine rebounded to shoot 50 percent (17 of 34) in the second half.
Northridge shot 44.8 percent (13 of 29) in the first half, but made just 19.4 percent of its shots (6 of 31) in the second half.
Hawai'i outrebounded the Matadors (3-6) 51-46. Smith, Tambini and Brittany Grice each had nine rebounds for the Rainbow Wahine.
LaJoyce King led the Matadors with 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Ofa Tulikihihifo added 14 points for Northridge and Krisztin Fuleki contributed 11.
Hawai'i will continue its three-game California road swing when it faces Loyola Marymount tomorrow and Southern Cal on Saturday.
