Religious group to mark Dec. 7

The Japan Religious Committee for World Federation — a Hawai'i group made up of members who are Buddhist, Shinto, Christian and belong to new religions — will be making its 25th appearance at the commemoration of the 65th Pearl Harbor Day.
They've been invited to give a prayer for peace, and will visit the Marine Corps base in Kane'ohe to see the grave marker of Japanese Zero pilot Lt. Fusata Iida, the Klipper Memorial and the Iwo Jima Memorial.
A symposium will also be held to promote peace and understanding between cultures at 3 p.m. Dec. 5 at Our Lady of Peace Cathedral.

JEWISH GROUPS SET CELEBRATION
B'Nai Brith of Honolulu and Shaloha Hillel, a University of Hawai'i-Manoa campus group, will host a Shaloha Channukah Celebration at the Campus Center courtyard on Sunday.
The 2 1/2-hour free family event is in preparation for the Jewish Festival of Lights, Dec. 15-23. There will be music, Israeli dancing, jugglers and a dreidel tournament (a top-spinning game). Latkes and other food will be served.

HOMELESS PHOTO EXHIBIT
New Life Church Honolulu has opened "God's Heart for the Homeless" exhibit at its church, 1190 Nu'uanu Avenue.
The photo exhibit, which chronicles the life of the formerly homeless through their own eyes, continues through Dec. 31.
The church gave six formerly homeless people cameras and asked them to document where they had been "lost" when homeless.
