Wie hires caddy

Advertiser Staff

Michelle Wie has found a caddy, for two tournaments anyway.

Golfweek has reported that Wie has hired Andrew Lano II to caddy for the next two events.

The move comes three weeks after Team Wie fired Greg Johnston, who had worked with the 16-year-old since she turned professional last October.

Lano will caddy for Wie at the Omega European Masters, Sept. 7 to 10, in Switzerland and the PGA Tour's 84 Lumber Classic, Sept. 14 to 17.

Golfweek said if Wie and Lano work well together, he could caddy for her for her remaining two tournaments of the year.

Wie also is scheduled to play in the Samsung World Championship, Oct. 12 to 15, and Casio World Open, Nov. 23 to 26.

Lano, who has caddied for Kenny Perry for nearly the past 20 years, recently met Wie. Lano applied for the opening and was interviewed by Team Wie, which includes father BJ Wie and agent Ross Berlin.

In seven LPGA events this year, Wie finished in the top-5 six times. She finished 26th at the British Open. Johnston was fired soon after.
