A man who robbed a Tesoro Hawaii gas and service station in Waipi'o three months ago may also be responsible for 13 bank robberies on O'ahu dating back to last year, according to Honolulu police.
Sgt. Kim Capllonch, Honolulu CrimeStoppers coordinator, said surveillance photo comparisons and physical descriptions appear to connect the man to the robberies.
"He wears all kinds of disguises, like wigs and fake beards," Capllonch said at a news conference yesterday.
In the May 28 Waipi'o robbery on Ka Uka Boulevard the suspect had a goatee and was wearing a blue aloha shirt, hat and sunglasses. According to police, he displayed a knife when the cashier opened the register. The man left the store on foot and was last seen on Ka Uka Boulevard.
Anyone with information about the man is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cellular phone.
