ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
'Tattoo Traditions' opens

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Academy of Arts thinks ink today with the opening of "Tattoo Traditions of Hawai'i: Original Drawings by Jacques Arago." More than 40 original drawings created by the prolific Arago — a resident artist on the French vessel Uranie, which docked all around Hawai'i in August 1819 — reflect daily life during a turning point in Hawai'i's history — three months after the death of Kamehameha I, and a year before the arrival of the missionaries. The show runs through Nov. 5. 532-8700.
