WINDWARD HO'OLAULE'A
The 6th annual Windward Ho'olaule'a, themed "A Homegrown Celebration," takes place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 16 at Windward Community College in Kane'ohe.
More than 20,000 are expected to attend the family-friendly festival, which this year emphasizes the Hawaiian culture with demonstrations such as wood carving, poi pounding and canoe building.
There's also a lineup of top Island entertainment, including Vaihi, Melveen Leed, Holunape, Eddie Kamae and Friends and Kapena, in addition to Windward O'ahu hula halau and musical groups.
Other attractions include a used-books sale, white-elephant sale, raku demonstrations, crafts, food, keiki games, Imaginarium shows, a bonsai exhibit and community booths.

A LAUGHING MATTER
Tickets go on sale tomorrow for "Last Comic Standing," a pair of comedy concerts by Chris Porter and Roz, 8 p.m. Sept. 26-27 at Pipeline Cafe; doors open at 7 p.m.
