Motorcyclist critically injured

A 39-year-old man was critically injured when his motorcycle crashed last night in Wahiawa.
The crash occurred near 730 Wilikina Drive shortly after 10 p.m., said Bryan Cheplic of the city Department of Emergency Services.
The man was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in "extremely critical condition," Cheplic said.
He said the man was not wearing a helmet.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.

KCC PROFESSOR CLOSER TO HOME
A Kapi'olani Community College economics professor who had been stranded in Lebanon is now in Singapore and remains on schedule to arrive at Ho-nolulu International Airport tomorrow morning.
Ibrahim Dik, 62, will travel from Singapore to Narita, Japan, then back to Honolulu.
"He keeps watching CNN to see if his family is OK," said his wife, Susan.
Dik tried to contact his family while awaiting a flight out of Cyprus.
However, he wasn't able to get through, said Susan Dik.
"I've been the one keeping in touch" with the family in Lebanon, she said. "They tend to be more worried about us than themselves."

FAULTY OUTLET BLAMED FOR FIRE
A failure in an electrical outlet is blamed for a fire that heavily damaged a Makiki apartment Monday night.
The fire in a fourth-floor apartment in the Alohi Manor at Alohi Way and Pi'ikoi Street caused about $95,000 in damage, said fire Capt. Kenison Tejada.
The fire was reported at 10:33 p.m. and was quickly brought under control.
One of the two men who lived in the unit suffered minor burns. The second man was not home when the fire broke out.
Tejada said the faulty outlet was in a bedroom.

CABBY ACCUSED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
A 46-year-old taxi driver has been charged with the sexual assault of a woman passenger.
Adrian E. Cohen of Honolulu was charged with one count of first-degree sexual assault. His bail was set at $100,000.
Cohen is accused of picking up a 23-year-old woman in his cab late Sunday night and taking her to a Lagoon Drive location where police said the woman was sexually assaulted. She reported the attack to police, and Cohen was arrested.

'AHUPUA'A' FORUM AT WINDWARD CC
Hawaiian cultural practitioners will lead a forum and panel discussion about traditional Hawaiian concepts in relationship to managing land from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Windward Community College's Hale 'Akoakoa, Room 105.
"Our Place in the Ahupua'a" is sponsored by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, the Ko'olaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club and the college.
The event is free, but donations will be accepted to offset the cost of refreshments.

SCHOOL'S HI 5¢ DRIVE SATURDAY
Kailua High School's Project Graduation 2007 committee is holding a HI 5¢ can and bottle drive Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school's parking lot.
The group will accept donations of redeemable aluminum cans, and plastic and glass bottles.
Project Graduation is a post-commencement celebration that is alcohol- and drug-free.
