Pitching honor for McGuigan

University of San Francisco senior right-hander Patrick McGuigan, a 2002 Mid-Pacific graduate, was named the West Coast Conference March Pitcher of the Month.
McGuigan was 4-0 with a 1.59 ERA and a save in March. He threw 28 1/3 innings in three starts and three relief appearances.
He had 32 strikeouts and three walks.

UHH SWEEPS BYUH
Sarah Steele pitched a one-hitter — a one-out single by Sherri Howell in the fourth — as Hawai'i-Hilo completed a doubleheader sweep of Brigham Young-Hawai'i yesterday with a 4-0 victory at the UHH Softball Field.
Steele, who retired the first 10 batters, struck out 10 and walked one for the Vulcans (17-14). Chelsea Osborne had two hits and Vanessa Badosa drove in two runs.
In the first game, Britni Rodriguez pitched a six-hitter as Hilo won, 3-1.
Charity Senas had two hits and an RBI for Hilo while Howell had two hits and an RBI for BYUH (8-22).
