Wholesale gas price rising 14¢

The maximum wholesale price for gasoline will rise 14 cents to $2.32 a gallon Monday for regular on O'ahu, according to the state Public Utilities Commission.
That price excludes taxes and a retail markup. Hawai'i sets a ceiling on wholesale prices but does not regulate retail prices. State lawmakers are considering amending and repealing the controversial law. Under that proposal, next week's wholesale cap would be about $2.13 a gallon, according to Advertiser calculations.
3RD OPENING FOR RUBY TUESDAY
Ruby Tuesday Hawai'i plans to open its third O'ahu restaurant near Macy's in Windward Mall on May 2, the company said.
From May 2 through May 15, the 5,600-square-foot Windward Mall restaurant will be open only for dinner, starting at 3 p.m. Full-service hours beginning at 10:30 a.m. will start on May 16.
The company also plans to open a Ruby Tuesday at Moanalua Center in August.
MARINE BASE TO GET FIRE STATION
Bodell Construction Co. of Salt Lake City is being awarded a $6.2 million contract for design and construction of a new fire station at Marine Corps Base Hawai'i in Kane'ohe, the Department of Defense said.
Work is expected to be completed by September 2007.
DAIMLERCHRYSLER TO OFFER HYBRID
DaimlerChrysler said yesterday that in 2008 it would sell its first gasoline-electric hybrid, a version of the Dodge Durango sport utility vehicle.
The automaker said the hybrid system, fitted to a 5.7-liter V-8 engine, would improve the midsize truck's fuel economy by up to 25 percent, from no more than 19 miles per gallon now, according to a government estimate.
