Hawai'i water polo team wins exhibition

The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team defeated New Zealand, 15-7, in an exhibition match at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex yesterday.
Kristy Bagnall and Kristine Swanson each scored three goals for Hawai'i.
The Rainbows (11-8, 5-4 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) finish their regular season in California with matches at Loyola Marymount (April 13), at USC (April 14), at Long Beach State (April 15) and at Cal State Northridge (April 15, at LBSU).

SEA WARRIORS LOSE TWO
The Hawai'i Pacific University softball team lost twice on the final day of the Togo's Tournament of Champions at Turlock, Calif., falling 3-2 to Cal State Stanislaus, then 8-0 to Cal State Monterey Bay. The Sea Warriors (17-12) were 0-5 in the tournament.
Dayna Berry allowed just four hits and three runs, striking out four in six innings against Stanislaus. She also hit a two-run home run.
In their second game, Kara Wedemeyer went 3 for 4 for the Sea Warriors.
Hawai'i-Hilo split its two games yesterday, losing to Grand Canyon College (Ariz.), 6-2, and beating Notre Dame de Namur (Calif.), 9-1.

LAMBERT, METZGER FALL
Top-seeded Mike Lambert and Stein Metzger, both Punahou School graduates, fell to No. 2 seeds Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal, 27-25, 21-16, in the men's final of the AVP Cuervo Gold Crown yesterday at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

KAROLYI TO SPEAK TODAY
Legendary gymnastics coach Bela Karolyi will be a guest speaker at the Honolulu Quarterback Club today.
Lunch at the Pagoda Hotel Ballroom starts at 11:30 a.m., with the program to follow at noon. The public is invited.
Karolyi is in Honolulu to help promote the upcoming Pacific Alliance Gymnastics Championships, April 13-15 at the Neal Blaisdell Center and the Hawai'i Convention Center.
