Buddha Day festivities at McKinley High

This year's special Buddha Day celebration begins at 9 a.m. April 9 at McKinley High auditorium and will include a morning service, a panel presentation of "The Future of Buddhism in Hawai'i" by George Tanabe, professor of religion at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa, with panelists Bishop Zenei Okimura, the Rev. Koho Takata, Ryan Toyomura and Bernice Koike.
Afterward, a taiko drumming festival, "Taiko Vibrant Sound of Togetherness," will be presented by five groups.
Hawai'i Buddhist Council sponsors the free event, including a canned goods food drive.

O'QUINN GUEST SPEAKER AT PRAYER BREAKFAST
Russell O'Quinn will be the guest speaker at the 27th annual Hawaii Prayer Breakfast at 7 a.m. April 13 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom.
Cost of the event, sponsored by Governor's/Mayor's Prayer Breakfast Inc., a non-profit corporation, is $26.
After the breakfast there will be a forum with speakers.

EX-CNN BUREAU CHIEF TO SPEAK ON WEST BANK
Jerry and Sis Levin will discuss their experiences in the West Bank at several Honolulu venues. Jerry Levin, a former CNN bureau chief, is a volunteer with Christian Peacemaker Teams; his wife, Sis, is the founding director of The Children of Abraham Interfaith Education for Peace Project, based in Bethlehem.

CHURCH PLANS SPECIAL EASTER KEIKI SERVICES
New Hope Hawaii Kai is hosting two special keiki services at 8 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. Easter Sunday. "Green Eggs & Spam," features Spam games, a green egg hunt and worship services. Keiki ages 4 to 10 will have an outdoor, kids-only service; the regular Easter service at Kaiser High School cafeteria will have the New Hope Hawaii Kai halau.
