Higashiyama keeps lead

Troy Higashiyama of 'Aiea shot a second-round 5-under-par 67 to increase his lead to seven shots at the Barbers Point Invitational yesterday at Barbers Point Golf Course.
Higashiyama is at 135 entering today's final round. Tadd Fujikawa, a Moanalua High freshman shot a 69 and is at 142. Spencer Shishido and Brandan Kop shot 72s and were at 145 and 146 respectively.

CHING HELPS SAN JOSE GET WESTERN TOP SEED
Brian Ching's sixth goal of the season gave the host San Jose Earthquakes a 1-1 tie with FC Dallas last night and the top seed in the Major League Soccer Western Conference playoffs.
Ching, of Hale'iwa, is a 1996 Kamehameha Schools graduate.
San Jose (16-4-9) has one more regular-season home match, Oct. 8, against Real Salt Lake.
Ching's goal came in the 68th minute, 10 minutes after midfielder Ramon Nunez gave Dallas a 1-0 lead by converting a penalty kick. San Jose midfielder Brian Mullan set up the equalizer, crossing to Ching from the right side of the Dallas goal. The U.S. forward split the Dallas defense and stuck the ball inside the far left corner of the net from close range.
