Vijay Singh will fill the PGA Grand Slam of Golf foursome, the PGA of America announced. The Slam, designed to bring the year's four major champions together, will be played Nov. 22 and 23 at the Po'ipu Bay Golf Course on Kaua'i.
Singh, this year's Sony Open in Hawai'i champion, will play against Masters and British Open champion Tiger Woods, U.S. Open champion Michael Campbell and PGA Champion Phil Mickelson.
Woods' two victories opened up the fourth slot. Retief Goosen was next in line on the major champions points list, but had scheduling conflicts.
Singh was next on the list. He tied for fifth at the Masters and British Open, finished sixth at the U.S. Open and 10th at the PGA. Singh was runner-up in the 1998, 2000 and 2004 Grand Slam.
The Slam is tentatively scheduled to start at noon both days, allowing TNT to show live coverage to a prime-time audience on part of the Mainland. The Nov. 21 Pro-Am is at 10:30 a.m., with a 9 a.m. Champions Clinic.
Tickets are available by phone (800—742-8258) or online (pga.com). A season ticket, for all three days, is $40. Daily prices are $10 (Nov. 21) and $20 (Nov. 22 or 23). Hawai'i residents can purchase season tickets for $20 before Nov. 1.
