Waikoloa Beach Grill opens

Fresh baked breads, homemade chutney and local seafood are in abundance at the Waikoloa Beach Resort's newest restaurant, Waikoloa Beach Grill, on the Big Island.
Chef-owners David Brown and Stephen Tabor, formerly of the Hilton Waikoloa Village, offer a diverse menu of salads, appetizers, sandwiches, entrees and desserts.
The restaurant, which overlooks the first tee of the picturesque Beach Course, is open daily for lunch (11 a.m.-4 p.m.), appetizers (4-5 p.m.) and dinner (5-9 p.m.). Reservations: (808) 886-6131.
ALOHA FESTIVALS
KAHALA MANDARIN PRESENTS LU'AU, HULA
In celebration of Aloha Festivals, the Kahala Mandarin Oriental will host a lu'au complete with a whole roasted pig, lomi-lomi salmon and passionfruit mousse cake. The event takes place 5:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday.
The festivities include entertainment by award-winning performers Na Palapalai and Halau Na Mamo O Pu'uanahulu. The halau, led by kumu hula Sonny Ching, includes Merrie Monarch Festival's Miss Aloha Hula winners Jennifer Oyama (2003), Natasha Akau (2004) and Maile Francisco (2005).
The traditional lu'au fare will be served alongside contemporary favorites, such as seared 'ahi and oriental vegetable salad with ginger soy, and beef teriyaki. Tickets are $95; $75 for children. Call 739-8890.
