Catch Little League team on ‘Sunset’ screen

Michael Memea catches a fly. Highlights from ‘Ewa Beach’s Little League World Series win will be shown tonight at Sunset on the Beach; the full game on Monday. And there’s a parade along Kaläkaua Avenue on Labor Day.

Sunset on the Beach is special this weekend with tonight’s world premiere of the TV series “Flight 29 Down” and Monday’s salute to the Little League team from 'Ewa Beach that could ... and did win the world championship.

Cast members Tani Lynn Fujimoto, Blade Rogers and B.K. Cannon of “Flight 29 Down” also will appear tonight. Isle favorite Hapa — Nathan Aweau and Barry Flanagan — will perform, as will Fujimoto.

Highlights of the Little League world championship game also will be screened.

Tomorrow’s film is “Sahara,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Penelope Cruz in a desert adventure tale.

Monday is a holiday for most, and the city is sponsoring a parade in honor of the Little League champs, Cal Ripken 12-and-under world champs and Hawaiçi Warriors Continental Amateur Baseball Association 9-and-under champs beginning at 5 p.m. from Fort DeRussy to Queen’s Surf Beach. The Little League world championship game will be screened in its entirety at Sunset on the Beach.

Sunset on the Beach begins each day at 4 p.m. at Queen’s Surf Beach and includes entertainment and food booths. Screenings begin after the sun goes down, about 7 p.m. Admission is free. 923-1094.
