Myron Enos Sr., everybody's favorite unemployed truck driver, is back in town looking for a job.

"Wherever I go, they say 'That's Myron Enos' and tell me 'You're a good father for supporting your son,' " said Enos, who quit his job as a cement-truck driver in August to watch his son, Kini, play for West O'ahu on its nearly monthlong march to the Little League world championship for boys ages 11-12.

"(Yesterday) I must have shake almost 30 hands," he said. "Everybody know me as 'da guy wen quit his job.' I'm from the Big Island, and my friends they been saying 'Eh brah, you one celebrity' but I tell them 'Yeh, but I one celebrity without one job.' "

Enos, who had been working for his former employer for 21 months, confirmed that he has six job offers, and he turned in paperwork for two of them yesterday. One is for freight delivery, the other a construction company.

"I wasn't worried up there (on the Mainland) but now that I'm back, home I gotta worry, but not as much because people been calling (with offers), so it's not like I gotta go around putting in applications," Enos said. "I'm deciding right now. Hopefully, I can get a job that will pay me what I was making.

"I really appreciate all the offers and what everybody been doing for me, my family and the team. They going way out of their way to help us out."

His wife, Jerrene "Girlie" Enos, is West O'ahu coach Layton Aliviado's sister. She works part-time at Mauka Lani Elementary School.
