BYUH tennis players advance at nationals

Julia Ustyuzhanina of Brigham Young-Hawai'i defeated Dasha Segenchuk of East Central (Okla.), 6-1, 6-0, yesterday in the opening round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Small College Championships at Fort Myers, Fla.
Ustyuzhanina also teamed with Tetyana Bula to defeat Leila Salek and Marissa Muchow of Ferris State (Mich.), 6-1, 6-3, in doubles.
Ustyuzhanina faces Victoria Weltz today of Lynn (Fla.) in the singles semifinals. Ustyuz-hanina and Bula will play Annik Biro and Anne Corten of Valdosta State (Ga.) in the doubles semifinals.
In the men's tournament, also at Fort Myers, Juan Carlos Osorio of Florida Gulf Coast defeated BYUH's Junyoung Kim, 6-1, 7-5, in the first round.
Kim will play today in the consolation bracket against Peter Grimsey of Rockhurst (Mo.).

VULCAN TICKETS ON SALE
Season tickets for the University of Hawai'i-Hilo basketball season go on sale next Thursday at UHH Athletic Hall of Fame, Bldg. 320-C, Room 105.
Ticket office hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m, and Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Packages are $105 for adults and $60 for seniors 60 and older and students for reserved tickets. General admission season tickets are $75 for adults and $40 for seniors and students.
Renewing season-ticket holders have until Wednesday to turn in their form. Those tickets will be available for pick-up on Oct. 1.

TRACK AND FIELD
CLAY, UH TO HOLD CLINIC
Decathlete Bryan Clay and the University of Hawai'i track and field team will hold a clinic on Oct. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Cooke Field.
"Run-Jump-Throw with Bryan Clay" is open to male and female athletes in grades 7 to 12. Clay, the 2004 Olympic silver medalist and 2005 world champion, and UH track coaches Carmyn James and Garrett Collier will instruct about the foundation and technical aspects of track and field.
Cost is $10. Proceeds from the clinic go to the UH track and field program and the Bryan Clay Foundation.
