Fujikawa trails junior golf event by one

Moanalua High School freshman Tadd Fujikawa stumbled to a 4-over 76 yesterday, but was just one stroke off the lead entering today's final round of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Junior at Mobile, Ala.
Fujikawa, who began the day in the prestigious junior tournament with a four-stroke lead after opening with a 5-under 67, had two birdies and six bogeys for a 36-hole total of 1-under 143.
The 14-year-old from Honolulu trails only Peter Uihlein, of Bradenton, Fla., in the 84-player field.
Uihlein, a third-team Rolex Junior All-American in 2004, shot 71 for the second straight day in a round that included five birdies.
Ji Moon, of Lake Mary, Fla.; Josh Jones, of The Colony, Texas, and Ryan Sirman, of Tyler, Texas, are two strokes behind Fujikawa.
Angela Park, of Torrance, Calif., shot a 3-under 69 yesterday and leads the girls division by nine strokes with a 139 total.
BASKETBALL
REFEREE MEETING TODAY
The O'ahu Basketball Referees Association, formerly the Hawai'i State Basketball Officials Association, will conduct its first general membership meeting tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Waipahu High School.
Anyone interested in officiating basketball at the youth and high school levels is encouraged to attend and learn more about the profession.
The association is a nonprofit organization that officiates O'ahu Interscholastic Association boys and girls basketball. All members will attend mandatory sessions in rules, mechanics, and philosophy as well as on-court situations.

BOXING
LOO NATIONAL CHAMP
Colleen Loo, 19, of Mililani, won the 101-pound division of the National PAL Boxing Championships at Oxnard, Calif., this past week.
Loo, coached by Don Casil of Pearlside Boxing Club, won a three-round unanimous decision in the final.
