TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Related" debut, 8 p.m., WB. Here's a late-arriving show that's far better than critics had expected. Marta Kauffman — one of the "Friends" creators — has found a perfect blend of comedy and drama. It's the closest thing you'll find to WB's witty "Gilmore Girls." Here are four sisters — bright and beautiful. Ginnie, the eldest, is hyper-responsible. She's a career success and unwilling to tell anyone she's pregnant. Rose, the youngest, does what she's told. Now her college switch — from pre-med to experimental theater — will startle people. Ann is an earnest therapist, and Marjee a flighty (and now homeless) party planner. These are fun people to know.

OF NOTE

"The George Lopez Show" season-opener, 7 p.m., ABC. Delayed from an earlier date, this is a fairly good hour. One story (George's daughter is in denial about her boyfriend leaving) is lame, but the other (George's mom is homeless after she accidentally starts a fire) has lots of acerbic wit.

"So You Think You Can Dance" finale, 7 p.m., Fox. It's down to two men and two women. Tonight, there's a champ.

"Great Performances: From Shtetl to Swing," 8 p.m., PBS. The great names of American music were often Jewish immigrants or their offspring. This hour traces that and key links with black musicians.

"Making Schools Work," 9 p.m., PBS. Hedrick Smith looks at programs that are succeeding.

"Invasion," 9 p.m., ABC. Dave has been babbling about a military conspiracy. Last week, armed soldiers inexplicably showed up after the hurricane and so did an Air Force pilot in a wetsuit. TV reporter Larkin is suspicious, and clashes with the sheriff.
