Two years ago, C.L.'s second-oldest daughter was killed in a car accident on Thanksgiving weekend.
The holidays have been difficult for the family since then. "Every year now, they think about the accident, relive it," she said.
C.L.'s husband is a technician for a modular building company and brings home the family's only source of income. The family struggles to buy clothes and household items. "After rent, bills, food, we're lucky if we have $20 left over to spend," C.L. said.
In addition to caring for three children, ages 14, 12 and 7, C.L. also takes care of her granddaughter. An older daughter, who is in her 20s, lives on her own.
"We try our best. We have some of our friends help and sometimes we have to sacrifice," said C.L.
A recovering methamphetamine addict for the last six years, C.L. helps counsel other women seeking to kick their addictions.
C.L. is asking for household items like a rice cooker, a coffeemaker and a child safety gate. She is also requesting clothing for her three sons and 18-month-old granddaughter.
"They've been through a lot lately and this would help brighten their spirits and show that good things happen to good people," said C.L.
Our anonymous Santa will match the first $25 of each donation to the Christmas Fund.
Christmas Fund donations are used for families that need help making it through the holidays. Any money remaining after the holidays will be used to help those in need throughout the year.
