TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Pirates of the Caribbean" (2003), 7 p.m., ABC. A bad idea — creating movies based on Disneyland rides — was turned into a good movie. Keira Knightley is your standard plucky-princess type, with Orlando Bloom as the wide-eyed hero. Then there's Johnny Depp as pirate Jack Sparrow. Everything about Depp's performance is wonderfully off-center. He never quite utters a line or makes a move in the way you'd expect. The one "Pirates" flaw is that the battle scenes go on too long. But it still manages to be fun.

"RX for Survival: A Global Health Challenge" conclusion, 9 p.m., PBS. Botswana was a leading African nation with a stable government and a strong health system. Then came the AIDS epidemic. The final hour of this richly crafted documentary shows health efforts there and elsewhere.

OF NOTE

"The O.C.," 7 p.m., Fox. With baseball gone, this show returns with new episodes. Ryan makes a major decision and Sandy supports it. Meanwhile, Marissa seeks help from her new public-school friends.

"Joey," 7 p.m., NBC. Alex has been humoring Joey by making up new rules for poker. That's going to confuse him when he appears on "Celebrity Poker."

"Will & Grace," 7:30 p.m., NBC. Jason Biggs plays someone who still has fame as Baby Glenn, the kid who was stuck in a hole back in the 1980s. Meanwhile, Karen is having trouble breaking up with Malcolm (Alec Baldwin).

"Reunion," 8 p.m., Fox. It's 1989 now and there are new wedges between the former high school friends. Samantha must choose between Craig and Will. Jenna decides to help her own career instead of Carla's.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. Evidence seems to say a young "suicide victim" was murdered. And that she was a virgin. And that she gave birth. This is all quite confusing.

"Without a Trace," 9 p.m., CBS. Jack and Danny head to Mexico to find a kidnap victim. The man's wife doesn't want them to, because she was told to keep the police out of this.

"ER," 9 p.m., NBC. Clemente (John Leguizamo), Abby and Neela deal with a celebrity patient. Meanwhile, Sam (Linda Cardellini) is unhappy with management responsibilities.
