On a team loaded with a seemingly endless supply of offensive weapons, it was the player supplying the ammunition who walked away with top honors.

Kamehameha junior Kealohilani Kea, a 5-foot-7 setter, was named the Interscholastic League of Honolulu's Player of the Year in a vote of ILH coaches.

The Warriors were blessed with several great hitters, but coach Chris Blake said Kea was the crucial element.

"She's the glue," Blake said. "By distributing the ball the way she did, she made the whole team better."

The end result was an ILH championship, earned the hard way after defeating first-round champ Iolani twice in the final three days.

Kea is joined on the league's all-star first team by Kamehameha teammates Deven Bukowski, a senior middle blocker, and Kanani Herring, a sophomore outside hitter.

Iolani also placed three on the first team — senior middle blocker Megan Burton, junior setter Kapua Kamana'o and freshman libero Kelly Pang.

Word of Life senior outside hitter Careena Onosai and Punahou junior opposite Liz Ka'aihue round out the first team.

Blake was named Coach of the Year.
