Kiahuna Golf Club is in the midst of replacing its Bermuda grass with Seashore Paspalum. The project is expected to be done by the end of the year.
Seashore Paspalum originally came to the U.S. from Africa on ships. It was dumped into a South Carolina harbor and grew on the banks, ultimately adapting to the salt water. It requires fewer chemicals for weed and pest control and reclaimed water with high salt content can be used for irrigation. Also, Paspalum has no grain.
