A 46-year-old man who died after being taken into custody Sunday night has been identified as George Kuriyama Jr. of Waipahu.

The city medical examiners office has deferred the cause of Kuriyamas death. It is classified as an unattended death pending the outcome of an investigation.
Kuriyama was arrested Sunday on suspicion of violating a 24-hour temporary restraining order. After his arrest, police noticed that he was having trouble breathing and he was taken to Hawaii Medical Center West.
While at the hospital, Kuriyamas condition worsened and he died at about 7:15 p.m., police said.
