Hilton Kauai Beach Resort to host Mokihana Festival
Hawaii - Hilton Kauai Beach Resort will host location the annual Hawaiian music mini film festival on Sept. 23 and the kahiko and auana hula competitions, Sept. 24-26.
“We’re extremely excited to have both of these wonderful events at the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort,” said Maydene Simmons, Director of Sales & Marketing. “We’ve been committed to the festival for the past nine years and the on-going quality of the events is truly amazing. This year’s theme is “Year of Hawaiian Music” and the film festival is showcasing documentaries on many of Hawaii’s beloved composers and musicians.”

10 a.m.- "IZ: The Man Behind The Music," 60 minutes
11 a.m. - "Words, Earth & Aloha - The Source Of Hawaiian Music," 60 minutes
Noon - "The History of the Sons of Hawaii - A Sound, A Band, A Legend," 80 minutes
7 p.m. - "Preserving Kauai Backyard Music Vol. 2 – Feature Documentary on Kauai Musicians," 60 minutes. This documentary has been entered into the Hawaii International Film Festival.
HULA COMPETITION, $15 in advance, $20 at door. Jasmine Ballroom.
Sept. 24, 6 p.m. Solo / Group Kahiko Nei Hula Competition
Sept. 25, 6 p.m. Group Auana Hula Competition. The Aloha Festivals Royal Court will be in attendance.
Sept. 26, 11 a.m. Solo Auana Hula Competition and Festival Awards Finale
Tickets for the hula competition are on sale at Hilton Kauai Beach Resort, Vicky’s Fabric in Kapaa and Hanalei Liquor Store.
