Honolulu firearms dealer indicted on tax-evasion charges

Advertiser Staff

A Honolulu firearms dealer has been indicted on federal tax charges, U.S. Attorney Florence Nakakuni’s office said yesterday.

Arthur Lee Ong, 51, is charged with conspiracy to defraud the government and six counts of tax evasion.
Ong is the owner of Magnum Firearms.
The indictment says Ong created multiple entities to hide income and filed false tax returns from 2000 to 2005. It says Ong failed to pay more than $300,000 in federal taxes.
Ong is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 14 before Magistrate Judge Leslie E. Kobayashi.
If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison on the conspiracy charge and a maximum of five years for each of the tax evasion charges.
