Education board to hold community meeting in Kona

HONOLULU � The Hawaii State Board of Education will hold its first community meeting of the 2009-10 academic year on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Konawaena High School in Kona on the Big Island.
The public is invited to attend the meeting to discuss public education and public library issues.
The meeting at Konawaena�s cafeteria will include a ceremony honoring public schools recognized for student achievement in the 2009-10 Hawaii Distinguished Schools Program. Hawaii P-20 also will make a presentation about the Board of Education Recognition Diploma, also known as the �Step Up� diploma, to inform interested parents and students from middle and high schools about the benefits of earning the diploma.
