A fundraising dinner to send nine Kalaupapa patients and their caretakers to Rome for the canonization of Father Damien is scheduled for July 18 at the Sheraton Waikiki.

A portion of the night's proceeds will also be used to fund a documentary video commemorating the canonization, defray the cost of transporting Damien's relic from island to island, and contribute to the Richard Marks Endowment for Native Hawaiian students of the John A. Burns School of Medicine.

Entertainment will include performances by Puamana, Robert Cazimero and Frank DeLima as well as a closing kanikapila with Henry Kapono, Amy Hanaialii Gilliom, Jimmy Borges, Marlene Sai, Danny Kaleikini, Dr. Kalani Brady and others.
