INDIANAPOLIS — Former Central Michigan quarterback Brian Brunner and former Florida State tennis player Anna Rynarzewska are the first recipients of the NCAA's Jim McKay Scholarships.
The scholarships are named for the longtime sportscaster and host of ABC's "Wide World of Sports" who died last year at age 87. The awards will go each year to one male and one female athlete who plan postgraduate studies in communications.
Brunner, from Hubertus, Wis., plans to continue his studies in journalism. Rynarzewski, a native of Inowroclaw, Poland, will study mass communications and marketing. Each will receive $10,000 from the NCAA.
